Parents are crucial to the student's success in the Scholars Initiative. In the eighth grade, each student will prepare a state-recommended high school four-year plan with the help of his or her parents and counselors. Parents should work with the counselor to help their children meet TN/VA Scholars course requirements. Most importantly, a parent's encouragement and support are essential in helping a student succeed in this challenging academic program.




Step 1:Encourage your child to become a TN/VA Scholar.

Step 2:Check your students' schedules each year to ensure they are taking the necessary classes.

Step 3:Monitor your child's attendance. Remember, the TN/VA Scholars program has a 95% attendance requirement over the course of 4 years.

Step 4:Consider contributing to the program. The Scholars program is run completely on donations from businesses and the community.
