During their 8th grade year, students are introduced to the TN/VA scholars program through a presentation by a local business leader. The presentation provides information on the program and encourages students to take part in the initiative.

Upon entering the 10th grade, students currently enrolled in the program hear a presentation from another local business leader about staying on track with the initiative and how being a TN/VA Scholar will help them in the future.

Each student also receives a Scholar's carabiner.

Juniors currently enrolled in the Scholars program take part in a third presentation by a local business leader who shares his/her personal experiences and gives encouragement to the students to stay on track. Juniors also receive a TN/VA Scholars T-Shirt.

Seniors are rewarded with a free day out of school to celebrate their completion of the program with a Senior Celebration Picnic at Laurel Run Park.

Students who graduate with the successful completion of all the requirements are recognized at graduation with a TN/VA Scholars honor cord. This graduation cord symbolizes excellence in the program to the teachers, counselors, parents and fellow students. The students are also presented with a certificate recognizing their accomplishment.

The benefits of being a TN/VA Scholar don't end with a student's graduation. Local businesses, as well as colleges and universities, view a student who has completed the initiative as a hard-working, self motivated individual who rises to the challenge of more rigourous tasks.
